Siya Xie graduated from Peking University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences in 2020. After starting the Quantitative Biosciences program in the fall of 2021, Siya became a member of the Weitz Group in the Summer of 2022 and joined the NIH-funded training program, InQuBATE, in the Fall of 2022. Her research focuses on the factors influencing the stoichiometric characteristics of marine bacteria, such as the carbon to nitrogen ratio in genome and proteins. She is also investigating the genomic mutations affecting bacterial susceptibility to viral infection and designing a Machine Learning model that can predict the results of cross-infection from the genomic context. Besides research, Siya is also passionate about illustration, design, and 3D modeling, meanwhile dreaming of developing websites for interactive visualization of research.
